Beaumont Hospitals’ “Leadership Change” Becomes PR Crisis

Beaumont Hospitals aimed to increase physician involvment in operations as part of its ‘financial turnaround plan,’ hiring the system’s first female physician COO. After nine months, however, she bailed.  The hospital won’t discuss the circumstances and admits it has no plans to conduct a search or bring aboard an interim COO.

So, the new COO jumped ship last week and we, the public, are given the impression something must really stink at Beaumont.  No comment as to why COO K. Bobbi Carbone, MD, left. A statement will be issued “later.” In the meantime we read:

On March 18, Carbone was scheduled to speak at an Inforum morning reception. But that engagement was canceled “due to a leadership change at Beaumont,” according to an announcement on Inforum’s website.”

The system would have benefitted from sharing more, no?
