Medical Poster Show Offers History of Health Pitches

If you can, visit the “Health for Sale” show at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. A collection of vintage ads for medical products and public health issues. Sounds great.

Today’s medical pitches, whether printed or electronic, are often embarrassingly clinical, as well as being loud and garish. Art rarely enters the equation. The posters in “Health for Sale” speak to more genteel values and, more important, to a reliance on aesthetic sensibility to make the sale.
