Do You Field Reporter Calls? If So, Read This

A reporter opines on how frustrating it is to collect information from hospitals. Jeremy Shapiro in The Emporia Gazette:

The report also states the Department of Health and Human Services said basic facts, such as patient name, location within the hospital and general condition should be released.

Unfortunately, we’re not sure hospital workers know this. We are sent to nurses or medical records people and sometimes doctors who are busy with their jobs and aren’t up to speed on federal regulations. Thus, the fallback answer is “we can’t release that.””
