Internal Communications 101: Face-to-Face is Better Than a Letter

It’s hard to deliver bad news to employees, more so after it appears in the newspaper. In the Herald-NC.com:

After hospital employees learned of Daughtry’s bill, Elliott should have set up shop in the Smithfield hospital’s cafeteria, explaining management’s position to shift after shift of workers. He then should have taken his show on the road, to Johnston Health’s hospital in Clayton. Instead, he mailed all employees a letter.”
