Hospital Labors to Justify Name Change

Southwest Washington Medical Center is changing its name to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. While Sarah Mottram, director of marketing and communications, has done a fine job in managing this complex transition, I take issue with the president’s quote (seen below) – the addition of a corporate name doesn’t really reflect a “continued commitment to high quality,” etc.   I feel we risk our credibility and endanger patient-centric brands by offering manufactured-by-committee quotes.  From KPTV:

“”Our new name and our new look are inspired by the potential of our affiliation with PeaceHealth, but it also reflects our continued commitment to high quality, compassionate care for every patient, every time, every touch,” said Joseph M. Kortum, president and chief mission officer of PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.”
